As already mentioned in the tour program Eritrea December 2010: the railway is on the way to become a real state railway. Eritrea needs its railway for the higher demand of transport once the ore mines near Asmara starts their production. Next week, the general manager of the railway, Amanuel Ghebrerelassie, has a meeting with the ministry of mining. From my yesterday’s telephone call with Amanuel it sounds like the mining ministry makes some pressure to get the connection to the mine build rather soon.
